Magistrate frustrated about Scone’s high drink driving rate

The Upper Hunter’s local magistrate has spoken out about the high number of people from Scone fronting court on drink driving charges.

Yesterday 11 out of 13 cases to appear before Magistrate Kevin Hockey were for drink and or drug driving related offences.

Magistrate Hockey expressed his frustration when sentencing a number of people who had pleaded guilty for low, mid and high range PCA charges.

He told the court “per capita he sees more drinking cases in Scone than any other court he presides at.”
