The financial impact of mining in the Hunter continues to grow.
The latest Member Expenditure Survey by the New South Wales Minerals Council shows the sector supported more than 15,300 jobs in the region last financial year.
That’s an increase of more than 1,700 jobs from the previous year and the highest number since 2012.

Also close to a $2 billion increase in the amount of cash was thrown around our region by the mining industry.
The mining companies injected a total of $ 8 billion into the Hunter economy last financial year.
