A former Mayor of Muswellbrook Shire Council has passed away,
John Colvin was elected to the town’s top job in 1999 and remained there till 2008. He was Deputy Mayor for seven years before that.
Mr Colvin also had distinguished careers in the military and teaching at Muswellbrook High School.

He played a pivotal role in establishing the Upper Hunter
Conservatorium of Music and the Mining Industry Skills Centre.
