Muswellbrook half day public holiday on the move

Muswellbrook residents will be asked to share their thoughts on the future of the town’s annual half-day public holiday.

The time off has been held in March over recent years to align with the Muswellbrook Cup horse racing event.

But Mayor Jeff Drayton said the time has come to move it back to Melbourne Cup Day on the first Tuesday in November.

Councillor Drayton said unfortunately many locals have been using the day to head out of town for a short break.
