Another case in Scone Local Court involving Upper Hunter Shire Council.
This time not only did a staff member walk across the road to the court but they took a lawyer with them.
Retired Murrurundi builder Mark Middleton was yesterday challenging two $1500 fines from the council for the construction of a carport and a small backyard studio without lodging DA.
Lawyer Ben Hoffman told the court as proceedings got underway that the council was dropping the fine connected to the carport.
Mr Middleton, who represented himself, pleaded guilty but explained he wasn’t aware of a special heritage clause that applied in his area.
Magistrate Kevin Hockey said he could see how the regulations could be confusing and dismissed the charge and fine.
