A Scone property owner has been threatened with a penalty of up to $1-million and an additional $10,000 a day for not lodging a development application to place a tiny house on wheels in their backyard.
State Government legislation allows for the mobile dwellings within certain circumstances, which have been complied with without putting in a DA.
But Upper Hunter Shire Council issued an order in November to remove the home from a family property by last weekend.
The notice of intention to issue a development consent control order also threatened an extra daily fine of $10,000 from last Saturday.
Councillor Troy Stolz said the person contacted the council to discuss the issue and is still waiting for a response over two months later.
