The biggest user of Scone Airport claims the facility is no better for pilots than it was before the runway was upgraded.
The runway was resurfaced in 2020 as part a major investment by Upper Hunter Shire Council at the site including the airport and Hunter Warbirds Museum.
The upgrade was meant to fix issues with the runway reported by its users including an uneven surface in places.
But Airspeed Aviation owner Ben Wyndham sais what was delivered was worse and came with a large debt for ratepayers.
He said a decision by Upper Hunter Shire Council to take out loans to build infrastructure at Scone Airport has placed an inordinate cost burden on running the facility.
Airspeed Aviation has been the biggest user of the airport for the past ten years.
Mr Wyndham said he is just one of many in the local aviation sector who are concerned about how much debt council has racked up on the airport precinct.
