The Hunter Valley’s top cop said she wants to ensure her officers in Muswellbrook share purpose with local first nations people.
The comment comes as an Aboriginal Flag is installed outside the local police station and a smoking ceremony conducted in a bid to improve connections between police and the Aboriginal community.
A local Aboriginal community elder telling the flag raising ceremony more needs to be done to stop crime occurring in Muswellbrook.
Elder Aunty Jean says crime issues in the town need to be addressed.
Hunter Valley Police District Commander, Superintendent Tracey Chapman said more work needs to be done to improve connections.
