Bulga Coal named as one of the worst methane emitters

An Upper mine has been named and shamed for the amount of methane gas they are producing.

Glencore’s Bulga coal mine is among those said to be responsible for 23 ‘super emitter’ events.

Global Energy Monitor’s December 2024 report says the finding follows first-of-its-kind analysis of satellite tracking of methane plumes.

Other offending mines named are located in Colombia, Mexico and China.
