A decision on a controversial Upper Hunter housing development has been deferred overnight after strong objections from nearby residents.
Developers have asked Muswellbrook Shire Council to approve the latest stage of Ironbark Ridge with a mix of properties from duplexes to four-bedroom homes and larger executive residences.
But the public gallery was full of locals strongly objecting to the proposal.
Many raised concerns about the impact on local traffic and the development not matching the amenity of the area.
A number also claimed they were told when they purchased their homes that the proposed area would never be built out.
Councillors voted unanimously to put off deciding what to do so they could get a better understanding of the issues raised.
