Council rejects criticsim over temporary street closure

Upper Hunter Shire Council has hit back at criticism by a local business owner over the temporary closure of part of Scone’s main street.

Simon Roden from the Phoenix Cafe told us he has lost 50 percent of his usual trade because of the roadblock on the corner of Susan and St Albans Streets.

In response to our questions, a council spokesperson said unfortunately, the work installing sandstone blocks cannot be safely conducted with traffic running adjacent to the site.

The council said the work should be completed by tomorrow afternoon.
