The divide between Upper Hunter Shire Council and on of their councillors appears as wide as ever..
At last night’s monthly Council Meeting……Mayor Maurice Collison rejected a request from Councillor Elizabeth Flaherty to attend the meeting via Zoom because of car trouble on her way back from Sydney.
The rejection coming after the application was apparently not sent in writing through the appropriate channels.
As a result there was no written apology so she was officially listed as having not turned up.
A motion was then passed to dock the pay of Councillors who don’t show up for meetings.
It was also revealed that the council had spent $18,000 on legal fees to investigate alleged code of conduct breaches against Councillor Flaherty.
