The State Government has rejected calls for parliamentary inquiries into the Office of the DPP and Mental Health Review Tribunal over the actions following the killing of former Muswellbrook schoolgirl Brigette Porter.

Biddy as she was known was brutally murdered in the State’s Central West in July 2020. Her teenage killer was convicted but found not criminally responsible.

Orange State MP Phil Donato led a debate in parliament late yesterday including a call for a Coronial Inquest into the death.

But in response to the petition, which gained over 20,000 signatures from across the state, the government told Biddy’s family they will not order inquiries and that a review was currently being undertaken into the delivery of victim’s services.
