Minimum four years jail over violent home invasion

The first of four men charged over a violent home invasion in Muswellbrook has reportedly been jailed for a minimum four years.

30-year-old Ian Paul Smith, from Wellington in the state’s central west, was involved in the incident on Forbes Street in the early hours of March 4, 2023.

The Telegraph reports the court heard the men stormed into the home with a machete, knife, hammer and a pole and assaulted the four occupants and two dogs.

He was given a maximum eight years sentence by Judge Roy Ellis.
