Labour hire workers at Mount Pleasant have been selected as the first coal mine workers in the Upper Hunter and New South Wales to lodge an application under new Same Job Same Pay laws.
The Mining and Energy Union yesterday lodged the case with Fairwork Australia for production staff employed by Programmed at the Muswellbrook site.
The union is hoping to eliminate the up to $40,000 pay gap between permanent staff and their labour hire colleagues at the mine.
