The mother of a murdered former Muswellbrook schoolgirl has welcomed moves to tighten laws in light of her campaigning.
10-year-old Brigette ‘Biddy’ Porter was brutally killed in 2020 and until recently her teenage murderer was permitted day release from the forensic medical facility they are held at.
The State Government has announced day leave requests will now be overseen by judicial officers.

Biddy’s mum Rebekah said the change is long overdue but a lot more has to be done.
