Muswellbrook home erupts in flames

A Muswellbrook home has been destroyed after catching on fire early last night.

Fire and Rescue NSW responded with crews from Muswellbrook, Aberdeen, Denman and Singleton with support from the RFS Edinglassie Brigade.

The two story building is located on the top side of Brook Street, between Sowerby and Carl Street on a battleaxe block.

The home owner, who self evacuated, was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.

Firefighters remained at the scene overnight as the building continued to smoulder.

The cause will be investigated.

Nearby residents reported last night the water coming out of their taps had turned brown.
