A victory for nurses and the local community after protesting cutbacks to the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment.
The State Government had proposed not to replace the barely compliant operating theatres in the $45-million-dollar Stage Three of the project after a budget overrun.
But now things have been rejigged so new theatres and sterilisation area will be included.
Community health will also now relocate into a new space near the hospital’s main entrance.
The government said the revised scope still allows for future expansion to deliver the full master plan in the future.
There’s no timeframe for the Stage Three works to begin yet.
