An Upper Hunter Shire Councillor will seek independent advice after a move to have a vote of no-confidence in the mayor, Maurice Collison at next week’s monthly meeting, was blocked by the general manager, Greg McDonald.
Troy Stolz gave several reasons for the measure in his draft notice of motion to be placed on the agenda for the meeting on Monday afternoon.
These included his ability to chair meetings, recent comments when answering our questions about a council no-show to Scone Local Court, delegating political decisions to staff and his non-attendance on a recent Hunter mayors delegation to Canberra.
But his motion was rejected by Mr McDonald who suggested it would be a breach of the meeting code of practice.
It comes as negative public opinion against Upper Hunter Shire Council appears to be having an impact with some councillors.
This newsroom has spoken to several councillors privately, who have expressed reservations about the organisation’s leadership under Mayor Collison.

Councillor Stolz said he believes an appetite for change at the top is starting to brew.
