Muswellbrook Shire Council workers are doing the rounds to check if any damage was caused by yesterday’s earthquake.
The 4.1 magnitude event just after midday brings the total of tremor activity in the region to around 50 since late August and more than 150 since the start of the year.
The quake occurred on the back of an online council survey on the issue.
Muswellbrook Mayor Jeff Drayton said he was shocked when he read some of the feedback from the survey.
Councillor Drayton says some insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves.
200 locals contributed to the online survey, which will now be forwarded to the State Government who have agreed to reconsider declaring the quakes an official natural disaster.
