The head of Mercy Services has defended their decision to close down their Singleton nursing home.
The facility on Combo Lane, that currently houses 37 residents, is set to cease operating early in the new year.
The not-for-profit organisation has cited ever-increasing costs and increasing care standards as the reasons behind the move.
Mercy Services Board Charles Reis said they tried everything possible over the past two years to avoid this decision.
A community meeting on the closure this Sunday at the Singleton Diggers Club appears futile.
Organisers have stated on social media the home WILL NOT BE CLOSING nut Mr Reis said the decision cannot be reversed.
