Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of a fatal trail bike crash in Muswellbrook.
A 17-year-old boy died after the trail bike he was riding struck a median strip guard rail sending him and his pillion passenger flying.
The incident on Saturday afternoon at the McDonald’s intersection on Maitland and Thompson Streets also resulted in a 22-year-old woman suffering multiple injuries.
Senior constable Kylie Kalaitzoglou said the bike was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
“The driver of a grey Isuzu D-Max, which had been entering the intersection on a green signal at the time, stopped to render assistance. He tested negative at the scene before being taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for mandatory testing. There was no contact between the bike and the truck,” she said.
“A crime scene was established, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
