One dead, one critcial after highway collision

A man has died in a collision between his car and a truck between Blandford and Murrurundi.

The smash occurred around 2 yesterday afternoon on the New England Highway at Murulla.

The man, believed to be in his 50’s died before emergency services arrived at the scene.

A passenger in the car, also a man in his 50’s, was airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The 45-year-old male truck driver is also recovering this morning in the John Hunter Hospital.

The highway was reopened to traffic in both directions last night.
