Upper Hunter Shire Council has confirmed power was cut to the Scone Airport because the bill hadn’t been paid.
The Hunter Valley Newsroom revealed on Friday a flight had to redirect to Tamworth last Wednesday night after not being able to activate the runway lights on approach.
Council GM Greg McDonald said the power provider hadn’t sent a bill since a separate meter for the runway was set up two years ago.

Mr McDonald said he’s still trying to get to the bottom of the issue.
