A tender for Stage Three Redevelopment works at the Muswellbrook Hospital has been released by the Hunter New England Local Health District.
The Hunter Valley Newsroom revealed last year the $45-million project had to be redesigned twice because of rising construction costs leaving the budget $15-million short.
This led to bureaucrats deleting new operating theatres and a sterilisation area from the plan until a backlash from local nurses.

Local State MP Dave Layzell said he’s in the dark about the final design.
He said questions need to be answered about how money is being spent on the latest upgrades.
