A severe weather warning for the Upper Hunter this morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting damaging winds and a damaging thunderstorm, particularly in Scone, Cessnock, and further south.
A “vigorous cold front” is the reason for the blustery conditions which should ease this afternoon.

The State Emergency Service is urging residents to move their cars undercover or away from trees, secure loose items outside, stay away from fallen powerlines and monitor conditions.

A high fire danger is also in place across the Upper Hunter today as well.
