Upper Hunter Shire Councillor Troy Stolz said he’s very comfortable with his decision to not support a proposal to build three new hangar-style buildings at Scone Airport.
Under the development application from the council, approved 5-3, the buildings will be constructed over three stages.
The first two will be funded with government grants while the third, to be offered up for lease, will be paid for by ratepayers.
Councillor Stolz said the council should have already learned its lesson from the Hunter Warbirds Museum debacle.
He said on top of this using grant funding to pay for two of three proposed new buildings is only part of the story.
At least two councillors have taken to social media in recent days following our coverage defending their decision to support the DA .
Councillor Stolz said his colleagues aren’t talking about the ongoing costs that would be associated with the plan.
