An example of people power has been placed on display in the Upper Hunter following a decision by the Regional Planning Panel to reject a controversial development application at Martindale.
Local residents came together and fiercely campaigned against the proposed 30-million dollar greyhound rehoming centre for retired dogs in the Bylong Valley.
Under the plan Greyhound Racing New South Wales wanted to establish a 400 kennel facility in the isolated location about 50 minutes drive from Muswellbrook.
The Panel’s decision released overnight was unanimous…citing a list of issues leading to the conclusion the site was unsuitable.
Vanessa Richards from Not In Martindale said it’s been a really tough fight but the weight is now off her shoulders..
